Identity Finder for Windows version 5.0.1
  • Implemented ability to delete client logs that are X days old or older
    • Settings\Logging\AutoDeleteOldLogsOnExit(0 (default): Disabled, 1: Enabled)
    • Settings\Logging\AutoDeleteOldLogsThreshold (>0: Delete logs when the client exits if they are old than this many days.  Default: 60)
  • Implemented ability to keep only the most recent X client logs
    • Settings\Logging\AutoDeleteMoreThanMaxLogsOnExit (0 (default): Disabled, 1: Enabled)
    • Settings\Logging\AutoDeleteMoreThanMaxLogsOnExitThreshold (>0: Keep a maximum of this many logs and delete the oldest when the client exits when there are more than this many.  Default: 10)
  • Added new, internal filter for DBF database files (will be searched as part of file search)
  • Implemented setting to enable/disable/prompt shredding of whole volumes via shell extension shred.
    • Settings\Explorer\AllowShredForVolumes (0: Prevent Shred, 1 (default): Allow Shred, 2: Prompt)
  • Improved web search module to increase speed and address several issues (url processing, redirects and advanced file identification)
  • Implemented setting to forcibly terminate the search thread at the conclusion of the search if control is not returned to the application.  This setting should only be implemented on systems that exhibit this behavior as evidence by a log message indicating that the search has completed but the application does not automatically exit as configured to do so
    • Initialization\Configuration\AllowForcibleSearchTermination (0 (default): Disabled, >0: Number of milliseconds to wait before forcing the thread to close)
  • Updates to the endpoint service
    • Update to send client version to console on first poll after service starts
    • Update to address an issue where scheduled tasks were started without settings configuration because configuration xml file was not properly created
    • Update to address an issue where a task could read from admin databases (ignore, custom folders, etc) created for other scheduled tasks
    • Update to address an issue where a task was run twice in succession if the first run was waiting for another task to finish and, while waiting, a policy update came down from console.
    • Update to address an issue when updating a task's last run time
    • Update to address an issue that prevented system settings from being applied when a user default policy had a higher priority than the system policy
  • Update to properly enable/disable the radio buttons on the "Save Secure IDF Results File" dialog
  • Updated E-Mail settings page to determine if 64-bit Outlook is installed and, if so, to warn the user that Outlook E-Mail will not be searched.  Previously, only a log message was created.
  • Update to prevent the UI from displaying if an error is encountered during a system search.  The error report will be automatically written to the folder IDFCommonAppDataDir\ErrorReports which is one of the following %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Identity Finder\ErrorReports\ or  %ProgramData%\IdentityFinder\ErrorReports\ depending on the operating system
  • Updates to Gather Data to improve diagnostic capabilities
  • Update to address an error when attempting to open compressed file type dialog and the setting Locations\Files\FileExtensions\Disable\disableOverrideSearchFilters was enabled
  • Update to properly test for invalid file names such as com1, aux1, etc.
  • Update to properly process the max compressed file size setting
  • Updates to disable the performance setting “Stop searching a location when maximum found” when using multiple CPU cores
  • Update to address an issue with password validation causing the validate process to not report password length problem unless there was also a complexity problem.
  • Updated status window, logs, and search history to better reflect processing during stand-alone mbox searching.

  • Update to properly disable the ribbon/settings when logging is disabled via a system policy
  • Updates to address several issues with the file and password vaults
